Abstract
Another consequence of climate change and decreasing of rainfall is decrease of water table. In the suburbs of Dakar, this has been accompanied by a change in land use and soil occupation: initially resurgence zones of aquifer has been used by people as habitations. With climate variability apparition, random succession of deficit and excess periods of rain are notified. So, recharge of aquifer may result in flooding for the excess years.
In this work, we first describe and characterize the aquifer system. We then calibrate and validate Modflow groundwater model, and use it to simulate the hydrodynamical behaviour of the aquifer due to rain. Then, we link the DNM of the zone of study, to the water table fluctuation to predict the evolution of aquifer level in the resurgence zones. The first results we get are satisfactory.
The third step will be to force the Modflow groundwater model by outputs of climate models in an early warning system.
